The Black Media Honors presented “The Anthony Hamilton Experience” at the Twelve Hotel in Atlanta, GA. Grammy Award Winner-Singer-Songwriter-Producer Anthony Hamilton closed out the Black Media Honors Weekend with an exclusive listening party following the 1st Annual Black Media Honors Gala for his upcoming music that will be released in September 2001. Introduced by Stephanie Davis (Founder of BMH, Editor-in-Chief of WE Magazine), Mr. Hamilton sat down for an intimate chat with Host Britni Moore while previewing tracks off of his upcoming album. Guests were delighted as he took us along a musical journey and invited us into his process of creating and recording his upcoming album. We listened to new R&B/Soul music tracks and details about how each song was created. He described his technique of singing, the passion and emotions he puts into each song. He stated that he wanted listeners to feel each word and for the lyrics to touch everyone’s soul. He also spoke about the producers and special guest appearances on the upcoming album.

Mr. Hamilton surprised guests when he revealed a mid-temp, crunk inspired track as he is known for his R&B/Soul ballads. The track was produced by Legendary So So Def Founder Recordings-Songwriter-Producer Jermaine Dupri and had everyone jamming and dancing in their seats. Another surprise of the night is when he previewed the highly anticipated song collaboration between him and Grammy-Oscar Award Winner Jennifer Hudson. The song was a cover of the Luther Vandross hit “Superstar.” Both singers who are known for their powerhouse and soulful voices flowed perfectly together. Mr. Hamilton stated that they did not want to overpower or outsing each other. He wanted their vocals to be smooth, passionate and closer to the original version performed by Mr. Vandross. They accomplished just that, the song touched so many in attendance and left everyone anticipating the full release.

He also briefly touched on the topic of Covid-19 and revealed to the guests that he recently caught a serious case of Covid-19 while on a previous trip to Atlanta. He expressed the importance of staying safe during the pandemic and following protocols. He opened up about how he balances fatherhood, his personal life and his career. He talked about his love for cooking and his past feature as a Celebrity Chef with Chef’d. He stated that some of his favorite personal meals to cook are cabbage, curry corn and vegan meatloaf. The Anthony Hamilton Experience was moving, inspiring and one to remember. It was the perfect way to close out a powerful weekend for Black Media.
