R&B Legends Group 112 and Jagged Edge Hit the New York Stage
Written by: Tammy Reese
Iconic Grammy Award-Winning R&B Group 112, along with another Legendary supergroup Jagged Edge are outside yall! Touring the country with their chart-topping hits. 112, and Jagged Edge performed live in concert at the Oncenter's Crouse Hines Theater in Syracuse, New York. The event was host by Rip Micheals of Wild-N-Out.
112 started the show and came through with back-to-back classics and hits including Peaches and Cream, Cupid, Only You, It's Over Now, Player, and Anywhere. 112 also did a tribute to a couple of music legends that we lost this past year such as DMX and Black Rob. Though 112 is from Atlanta, their music career launched in New York with Bad Boy Records. Notorious BIG is forever a part of the 112 music career legacy for which the group paid tribute to the late star as well during their set. Slim and Mike are the remaining original members still carrying on the 112 brand. Mike and Slim were accompanied on stage by two dancers who performed so flawlessly that the audience forgot that 112 had two other members before. Slim's voice still holds weight in the industry and is so distinctive and is set apart from others. Mike's voice is so well controlled, and powerful. Both men have a stage presence and passion for what they do. The crowd sang along to each song, danced, and didn't want the show to end. 112 did an excellent job!
Next up was Jagged Edge, an iconic group we know as Richard Wingo (Wingo), Kyle Norman (Quick), and twin lead singers Brandon Casey (Case Dinero) and Brian Casey (nicknamed Brasco). The group performed their classics such as Gotta Be, Promise, Let's Get Married Remix, Walked Outta Heaven, and Where The Party At. A couple of tech issues occurred which can happen with live shows but the group pushed through and gave a steller performance. Jagged Edge's set didn't last as long as 112's opening, but it was just as refreshing, fun and needed.
About Jagged Edge (wikipedia)
Jagged Edge is an American R&B group from Atlanta, Georgia. The group, initially signed to record producer Jermaine Dupri's So So Def Recordings, is best known for their string of hit singles including "Let's Get Married" and "Where the Party At" (featuring Nelly), most of which were produced by Dupri. The group's members include identical twin lead singers Brian and Brandon Casey as well as Richard Wingo and Kyle Norman. The group's debut album, A Jagged Era (1997), performed poorly at the time of its release, however their subsequent albums until 2007 all became commercial successes—debuting within the top 10 of the Billboard 200.
Wingo was a late addition to the group, added after a recommendation from Kandi Burruss of Xscape. Burruss was also the one who brought the group to the attention of Dupri, who signed them to his Columbia Records distributed imprint, So So Def Recordings.
