Shruti Haasan will be the Guest of Honour in a roundtable conference on ‘Activating Change,’ leading industry trailblazers in a discussion on challenges and opportunities facing underrepresented genders in the film industry, taking place at the Campari Lounge on Tuesday, 23rd May 2023 at Cannes Film Festival.

The conference, hosted by feminist film initiative Breaking Through The Lens, will discuss the challenges and opportunities for women in the film industry and explore ways to create a more inclusive environment. Their objective is to provide realistic solutions for female, non-binary and under-served filmmakers with a multicultural, intersectional, and results-driven approach, providing a pathway to production. Their mission is to systemically change the industry’s landscape and improve access for women and non-binary directors. Cannes Film Festival 2023 serves as the ideal platform to bring together leading influencers to effectuate change. Cultured Focus Magazine met up with the international superstar to discuss the importance of gender parity across industries and her upcoming projects.

Shruti will also be in Cannes to discuss her first international feature, British-Greek co-production, The Eye. Directed by Daphne Schmon with a predominantly female crew, the film is produced by 'green', feminist production company, Fingerprint Content, that advocates sustainable film production and championing female voices.
