This week marked the 80th Venice Film Festival — making it the world’s oldest film festival. Because of its prestige and artistic bona fides, it has also become a mecca for incredible fits and wave-making looks.

This year, WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have thinned expectations on screen, but the red carpets and festival galas are still filled with what will no doubt be some of the year’s most memorable outfits.

Interested in seeing the fashion at one of world cinema’s most important events? Don’t worry, we have you covered with the following list of the best dressed at the Venice Film Festival 2023.

Franklin Eugene delighted fans and crowds when he appeared on the Sala Grande red carpet at the 8Oth Venice International Film Festival ahead of Director Saviero Costanzo's FINALMENTE L'ALBA starring Lily James, Willem Dafoe and Joe Keery. Mr. Eugene appeared in custom Franklin Eugene.

This power couple has been spotted all over the festival, from premieres to simply getting a bite to eat. And wherever the cameras have found them, they have been dressed to the nines. It’s something that they have come to be known for, adding so much glamor to the event.

They’ve managed to subdue their own looks enough to mix well together, all while still setting themselves apart. It's a tricky balancing act.

Adam Driver

Valentina Cervi

This Italian actress has always managed to deliver well in the glitzy settings of red carpets and big premieres. This time was no different. Her breathtaking Valentino — immediately recognizable by its audacious maroon sequins — made her stand out from the crowd.

This was another look that was amplified by subdued hair and makeup, a trend that seems to help naturalize and better frame the exciting fashion.

Jane Campion

As a director, Campion’s films are challenging and refined — even when they feature plenty of grit (which they always seem to do). Her red carpet get-up had all of that, thanks to her sharp-looking suit by Christian Dior.

The look was completed with a handbag and sandals used to make the entire thing pop.

Patrick Dempsey

Luca Guadagnino

This Italian director is known for his beautiful romantic films filled with tenderness and deep humanity. At the Venice Film Festival, he cut across that with a forward-thinking suit. In fact, he’s been known to flaunt his couture sensibilities on red carpets before — especially at last year’s Cannes.

Guadagnino delivered simple colors, but it’s the detail and silhouette of the suit that set it apart.

Mariacarla Boscono

The Italian actress and supermodel is known for showstopping on the red carpet. This time was no different. Rocking a stunning red Dolce & Gabbana corset — complete with matching stockings and gloves — she absolutely captivated cameras.

Although the dress was on fire, her subdued makeup and hair helped amplify the sophistication. It was a look we will remember for a long time.
