The 10th Annual Real to Reel Global Youth Film Festival, a celebration of young filmmakers' talents, kicked off on October 5th, 2024, at the prestigious Los Angeles Film School 4. This milestone event brought together a diverse array of supporters, including local government representatives, entertainment industry luminaries, and experienced professionals from the film world.

 

The festival opened with support from local celebrities walking the red carpet, which included

Syd Stewart (RTRG Film Festival Founder; Screenwriter), Johna Rivers (RTRG Film Festival Co-Founder; Moderator), Kristina Sullivan (Award-Winning Producer), Jasmine Sanders (Co-Host of The DL Hughley Show), Ben Cain (Hulu’s Cruel Summer), Director Sean McNamara (Disney’s That’s So Raven), Actor Merrick McCartha (CW’s All American), Bryan Michael Stoller (Legendary Author - Filmmaking for Dummies), Jan Lucanus (CEO of ReelwUrld – Cinematic Social Network), Isabella Blake Thomas (British Actress), Zay Domo (Actor), Montana Jacobowitz (Actress & Voice-Over Artist), Jax Malcolm (Actor & Filmmaker), P.  Throughout the festival, budding cinematic artists were treated to enlightening panel discussions featuring seasoned industry veterans who shared their personal journeys and cutting-edge insights4. A highlight of the event was an exclusive workshop led by acclaimed producer Kristina Sullivan, drawing from her book "Script To Screen 101"3. Sullivan's session offered aspiring screenwriters’ valuable guidance on transforming creative concepts into fully-fledged scripts and ultimately bringing those scripts to life on screen.

The festival featured several films, among them included "Flesh and Blood", "re:connection", "The Jazz Pianist", "Going Green", "Unconditional", "Afterworld", "Bare Luxuries", "Room", "How to make a college?", "Way To Go", "CIN-E-RAMA", "Colored Color", "MAX", "Missing with Privilege", "Intertwined", "This Isn’t The End", "Ablaze", "Token Two: The White Version", "Guiding Light", "A Better Life", and "Bird Drone".

 

This year’s winning films included Best Drama – “Unconditional” directed by Grant Housley, Best Action – “Afterworld” directed by Oscar Bermudez, Best Documentary – “Going Green” directed by Sanchali Pothuru, Best Animation – “re:connection” directed by Directed by Kristina Tran, Best Horror Movie - "Flesh and Blood" directed by Paul Vo Le, and Best Storyline - "The Jazz Pianist" directed by Shahan Rao.

 





The festival culminated in a heartwarming awards ceremony that recognized the dedication and achievements of its organizers, panelists, staff, and sponsors4. Representatives from local government, including Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez's office and Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, were on hand to present awards, underscoring the community's support for this initiative4. Special recognition was given to the festival's founders for their unwavering commitment to providing arts programming and services tailored to foster youth and those impacted by the system, highlighting the event's broader social impact.
